Fourth Grade

Fourth grade is sure to be a memorable journey, filled with exciting new experiences, academic growth, and rewarding challenges. Take a look at what your student will learn:

• Literacy: Comprehensive literacy instruction, including phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension, with differentiated support to meet individual needs.
• Math: Advanced math skills, including multi-digit multiplication, division with remainders, solving complex word problems, understanding large numbers and decimals, working with fractions, and exploring geometry (lines, angles, quadrilaterals).
• Science: Exploration of physical science (light, energy), earth science (weathering, erosion, landscape changes, earthquakes, natural resources), and life science (plant and animal structures/functions) through experiments, observations, and data analysis.
• Social Studies: Focus on geography, including political geography and cultural landscapes of North America, map skills, and analysis of regions in the US, Mexico, and Canada. Students also learn about tribal and US government, and basic economic concepts.
• Health & Physical Education: Continued development of teamwork, sportsmanship, and advanced sport skills, with emphasis on healthy habits and goal setting.
