First Grade

Get ready for a fun year! In first grade, your child will learn a lot and grow in many ways.

Here is what your student will be learning:

• Literacy: We'll build strong reading skills, expand word knowledge, and learn to tell stories effectively.
• Math: Students will learn how to add and subtract, understand place value, measure objects, and recognize patterns through hands-on activities.
• Science: We'll observe and experiment to understand basic concepts in life science (plants and animals) and earth science (seasons and weather).
• Social Studies: Students will investigate local communities, learn about important people from the past, and discover different cultures.
• Physical Activity: We'll work on movement skills, play team games, and learn how to stay healthy.
• Social and Emotional Growth: Students will develop empathy, learn to work together and practice good communication.
• Problem-Solving: We'll encourage students to think independently and use logic to solve problems.
